About the Farm

Our Story
Founded in 1990, in the heart of Louisiana, it all started with a dream, Mr. Scott Purdin’s dream to create living artwork, always aiming for that perfect harmony of body, quality, and pattern. Together with his wife Susan, Scott discovered the ideal piece of land just outside Baton Rouge. Nestled beside a simple 1830s mud-and-moss cottage, the farm took shape, starting with a greenhouse-style picante red barn. Inside, five custom concrete ponds, ranging from 1,200 to 25,000 gallons, were built. Each pond features a custom-engineered filtration system in Japanese design to ensure optimal water quality for the koi. Outside are concrete ponds providing over 130,000 gallons of water, giving our koi ample space to grow.
As the farm grew so did the vision. Today, Purdin Koi Farm is two facilities. The Cline Drive facility is for sales. The Flynn Road facility is for breeding.

History
Long before a koi reaches a customer's pond, years of careful planning, selective breeding, daily care, and commitment have gone into its journey. Behind that work are the people who have devoted themselves to this farm. These individuals whose knowledge, perseverance, and vision have shaped not only our fish, but our identity.
